Thank you for the links. The list I’m hunting for was in “kit ” format and detailed what to buy and quantities reccomended for an individual to store food for two weeks. It could have been included in the article you linked first, the context would match.
Honestly I think this is the best. Any firearm forum usually has a prepardness section, and there is valuable food for though there BUT you have to comb through a lot more nonsence than on The Prepared.
Lithium batters are the go to. They’re more expensive sure, but they dont leak (as often), have better output/ life, longer expiration and are lighter weight than their alkiline counterparts.
I absolutely have one in my kits. Great responses here, nothing I could add.
How many people are you needing to shelter? Are you backpacking? What region of the country are you in? I have consulted the Backpackers Editors Choice tents with success. If your’re looking at a 2 person tent I would look at the MSR Hubba Hubba, if youre looking larger Nemo and Big Agnes are great options. Have you looked at the Eureka Timberline? Its a more cost effective yet robust design (not a lightweight).
Ive got one in the grey ripstop fabric and in addition to being awesome for carrying a firearm, magazine(s), gloves, loght or whatever its pretty low profile and discreet.
I had to check, mine is the Runners kit bag. its just the right size for jogging/ minimalist amounts of gear. If yo are carrying more or in the wilderness I think the bigger bags would be better.
Im going to suggest you look into a kit bag from Hill People Gear.
I like you list and will use it. Ive been using “when” language instead of “if” language for a while. This empowers them to think through a situation and to expect that it could occur. ex: When you get lost in the mall what will you do?
I would focus on being well equipped to “bug in” before building your bug out bags. Dollar for dollar I believe you’ll be more prepared faster for more likely scenarios. If you feel pressed to make bug out bags later, go for it! Keep reading on this site, its a GREAT resource.
I have no idea on how NJ laws will effect your buying choices. I’m assuming an AR would be out of the question. Can you get a 20” barrel lever gun in 357 mag? That would give you 12 or so rounds with respectable ft/lb. Maybe a bolt action rifle in 308 or 223 that accepts pre ban magazines? As far as a safe, have you looked at the Hornady rapid safe offerings? They make some suitable for one long gun.
I put mine in the emergency fund as more padding against the possibility of job loss/ salary cut. I definitely hear you on fitness equipment but I bet you can find a way to maintain without spending those Trumpbucks.
First off, its a sign of strange times that this article is necessary. I’m glad you took the time to pen it though, and I hope it travels the cyberspace channels far and wide based on the paper product aisles I’ve seen in the last 96 hours…
