This is a classic example of “Stockholm Syndrome”!!!…the abused comforting & confiding in their abuser! I suppose if these folks are “smart enough” and an entity such as the US conducts a precision “shock & awe” strike to eliminate the military threat, I would think the civilian populace would wake up to the fact that they have a future of freedom!
