I’m curious about these systems. Anecdotally, I heard from a police friend that his coworker was liking it. I don’t know if it’s the same kind as your link.
Has anyone seen a diagram or explanation of burying stones around a fire pit? Lining a fire pit with rock mass is straight forward, but if there are details to know, I’d appreciate it.
I saw a mail carrier with a cloak style raincoat, hung to about his knees. That style looked good to me. He had his bags underneath, and said he wore that in heat or cold, because his layering underneath would keep him cool or warm, depending. It either had a hood or he wore one of those pith helmet hats. You could look at a uniform supply place and find something similar.
I’ve been looking at that type of rifle recently! Check this out: https://www.chiappafirearms.com/product.php?id=58 I believe this is the best deal, with the interchangeable barrels. I like getting the most calibers in the least guns.
It looks like no gill nets though. They can shoot bears!
I think the shelter building and stove and chimneys are my favorite part.
Ohh, I don’t remember that season, I’ll go look at it.
I wish they had room to bring a shovel, I got excited about the woman last season who was building a pit house.
I looked it up and saw the mattresses that fit in there. That with the climate control makes it pretty comfy. If you had to guess, how long could you run the AC/heat without recharging from full?
That’s pretty good! I guess that’s not a significant load for such a large battery. What car is it, if you don’t mind saying?
Yeah, this is one I saw. He’s got all the plumbing inside for freeze protection, and a cool double door from cab to cargo area. So you can run ac or heat all night with your electric car?
I didn’t think you needed a CDL for box trucks. I like the trailer idea too. Get one with a tall ceiling and lots of insulation, and a toilet you dump as you go instead of plumbed. As for the unpacking part, I was thinking of it as an extension of the BOB concept, where it could be packed and ready for an extended stay. I might be dreaming on that front tho. I hadn’t considered claiming a spot in a camp and then losing it driving around.
I like that fridge truck idea, that would save some insulating. Yeah, I love the stealth campers. There’s one I might link on here a guy made out of a Fed ex step van. He kept all plumbing inside and insulated the Dickens out of it, so wouldn’t freeze or get too hot. I’m definitely interested in winterizing, I live in Minnesota.
@eric I was thinking of it as a supplement to my main residence. For example, if the area flooded, the family could relocate nearby temporarily in more comfort than an emergency shelter. Other than that, it would be for camping.
Thanks, I’ll check it out.
Hello, I don’t have a reference for this, but I’ve read about the Viet Cong using bicycles to transport heavy stuff on the Ho Chi Minh trail. They’d just walk them. So that’s a way to use them to bug out. You could use a junker bike that way and maintain a low profile. Would fit through narrower gaps than shopping cart or garden wagon.
