Personal preps should include bottled water, Waterbobs, Berkey, Sawyer, various methods of filtering/purifying, sillcock key, knowing nearby potential sources of water, etc.

Any church leader who is still holding services should be immediately arrested for attempted murder. The virus clearly takes precedence over freedom of religion. Oh hey, Texas – churches are essential businesses now? Good, tax them. Gotta keep that collection plate circulating. So much truth here. It’s easy to dismiss any particular high profile prepper for a variety of reasons (personal beliefs and biases obviously come into play here), but Mr. Rawles has been uncannily accurate regarding predictions on many important topics. Those who own a copy of his book “How to Survive the End of the World as We Know It” should re-read Appendix C at the back of the book. I think many preppers (yes, even so-called “hardcore” ones) have had various levels of fantasies regarding what “it” would be like, but they could always focus on adding food, water, guns/ammo, skills, etc. because reality was far away. Now that a global threat is staring them in the face, reality has come knocking and some don’t want to open the door. Now the fear and self-doubt creeps in. “Have I done enough?” is running through the mind of many. “We are what we do” – we are creatures of habit, and do not like the unknown, especially on this scale, when so much is at stake. Be like the Dachshund, my friends.

How many degrees between him and Kevin Bacon?
Good information here, as always. The worst of times haven’t even really started yet, and the cracks in society are beginning to show. A person got stabbed inside a Costco in Georgia for a case of water, and a gun was pulled for a similar reason in Canada. Lines at stores are at unseen levels, and apparently hand sanitizer, TP, and water will never be in stock again. If you carry (which you should, especially now), you should be in condition one. If you do have to go out, make sure your SO knows exactly what to do if things get really real.

Normalcy bias and Selco in one post? Excellent. I know y’all are on the Reddit prepping pages, and I’ve sent many people from there to your site. I’ve posted about NB numerous times on there, and some people have taken it to heart and actually had an epiphany. You see them post “I’m way behind and need to catch up” soon after, and they are always welcomed and helped. “Early is on-time, and on-time is too late.” – that should be on your official t-shirt. Thanks again for all you do, and the best to you and yours.
Quote from SurvivalBlog.com: “I heard from my buddy Kevin Swanson, who runs US Tactical Supply in Northern Idaho. He said he talked to one of his MRE suppliers a day or two ago, said they sold 10,000 cases of MREs in one day….panic buying. Not 10,000 MREs, 10,000 CASES of MREs.
Re: China’s draconian measures and the possibility of similar being attempted in the U.S. – Once the majority of people here actually start paying attention and realize just how serious this is, I think they would go along with most suggestions, but many are self-absorbed and selfish, so there would be numerous cases of people breaking self-quarantine for trivial reasons. Plus, there won’t be any welding people into their apartment complexes, or public beatings here – far too many guns in private citizens warm, live hands.
There are numerous video clips online showing Chinese authorities telling citizens to return to work, no matter the risk. As a bonus, they are told that if they do contract the Kung Flu, they are completely on their own. Yay, communism!
Several U.S. updates: https://newyork.cbslocal.com/2020/02/18/coronavirus-westchester-county-quarantine-cdc/ https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/medical/case-of-coronavirus-possible-second-case-under-quarantine-in-napa/ar-BB108FQR?ocid=hplocalnews Several news sites are stating that the incubation period may be as long as 24 days. Think about how many people have been released around the world after only 14 days in quarantine. Also, there have been numerous stories regarding the possibility of recovered patients being hit again, and that the second time is even worse (and more deadly) than the first.
I just wanted to thank everyone involved in gathering this information – it is extremely important work. My non-professional advice: Pay very close attention to the cases within the U.S. – if the number of cases starts to increase exponentially, or infected patients begin to die, you had better get stocked up on what you know will be needed to survive the coming storm (although you should have done that long ago – hopefully just add to the specialized items required for this type of threat). What is happening in China right now is absolutely horrible (I have seen numerous video clips of things I wish I hadn’t), but for the sake of our country we must seal it off and hope that the few cases here burn themselves out. You are correct in continuing to post economic-related news, as that aspect could become an enormous problem quite soon. Consider this: N95 masks, gloves, alcohol-based hand sanitizer and other related items are out of stock at local Home Depot, Walmart, Walgreens and Lowe’s locations, various hardware and paint stores, etc. And this is before there has been even 1 death here in the U.S. Imagine what stores will look like if patients start to die. Get prepared. As I understand it, the incubation period may now be as long as 24 days, so the next month or so will most likely tell the tale of how this will play out within the U.S.
